Call for Nominations - Ernie Farmer Memorial Award
Nominations are requested for the person you feel meets or exceeds the below-listed qualities as related to amateur radio and its many diverse and varied activities.

A committee of three members of Bluegrass ARS has been appointed by the president:
Bobby Rolph - KB4QNR
Fernie Williams - KE4MAI
Margueritte (Margie) Williams - KE4MAJ
The committee will review all nominations received and will select one person to be honored with the memorial award for 2025. The person selected from your nominations will be honored during a special award ceremony held during our Club’s annual family picnic the second Monday of September (September 8, 2025). Please get your nominations in early.
Note 1: When the committee was first selected in 1979 to define the award, they agreed no one should be honored more than once. If you are writing a nomination for a person to be considered, refer to the list of previous award recipients to make sure he/she hasn’t already been so honored.
Note 2: The person nominated and selected to receive the award doesn’t need to be a member of the Bluegrass Amateur Radio Society, Inc.; isn’t required to be a resident of the state of Kentucky; nor does the person need to be a licensed amateur radio operator. Any person who has distinguished herself/himself as a strong promoter of amateur radio, has actively participated in amateur radio activities, and/or is noted for promoting the growth and progress of amateur radio in your community or state can be nominated and may be selected as the winner of this meritorious award. The following rules will be very closely enforced by the nominating committee members.
Rules
1. This award is to be presented during the club’s annual family picnic in September.
2. The nomination must be received no later than August 11, 2025.
3. Nominations must be in writing and signed, or by email with submitter’s name clearly shown, with specific and adequate information describing why the nominee should be considered.

4. Areas of consideration to be explained in the nomination:
a. Involvement in public relations.
b. Operating excellence.
c. Involvement in public service.
d. Assistance to prospective and/or licensed amateurs.
e. A combination of these for the general furtherance of amateur radio.
5. The President shall appoint a committee of no less than three to consider nominations and select the person to be honored. The committee shall select the honoree within two weeks after the deadline for receipt of nominations and procure an appropriate plaque in sufficient time to permit presentation at the picnic. Also, the committee will write a letter of commendation outlining the reasons for the award. This is to be presented to the honoree along with the plaque.
6. The honoree will be notified prior to the picnic to permit acceptance of the plaque and the letter and attendance at the picnic.
7. The name of the honoree and the contents of the commendation letter will be published in the Club newsletter following the picnic.
